Ranking some of my 2022 reads from least to most favorite:

#7: Love on the Brain by Ali Hazelwood- Based on the rave reviews and hype I’ve seen on BookTok, I expected a little more… the storyline was too predictable and the character development was lagging a little bit. I know that there are many people who loved this book and to each their own… but I prefer a book that keeps me guessing rather than knowing how it will end after reading the first chapter.

#6 It ends with us by Coleen Hoover- Okay now I know this may be a little controversial but, compared to the other’s I’ve read last year I could not place this book any higher. For me it was boarding on romanticizing abuse which is not really my cup of tea, but I can see why this book is so popular with romance book lovers, I mean a classic love triangle… who wouldn’t.

#5 The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood- While I liked this a little better than Love on the Brain, I do feel like there was a little something missing… not to mention, the “scene” and the intensity that came with it came out of nowhere. But I thought it was a really cute story overall and I loved the fact I could feel the chemistry between the two characters.

#4 Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens- This was one of my favorite reads this year and putting it fourth place was a really difficult decision. The layout and flow of this book was masterful, the characters, development and storyline was perfectly plotted. Delia Owens deserves a standing ovation for this work of art.

#3 As sure as the dawn by Francine Rivers- This series... as soon as I finished it I knew it was by far the best read I’ve had but, between the three books in the Mark of the Lion Series… this book came in third. This book follows the story of Atretes and picks up right after the second book and narrates his journey of discovery with God, his son and a woman by the name of Rizpah. As soon as you put this book down you’ll wish you could experience all over again.

#2 An echo in the darkness by Francine Rivers- This is the second book of the Mark of the Lion series and this book had me in tears and pulling my hair out at the same time but if a book does not make you feel like a fruit bowl full of emotions… then it would just be another book gathering dust on the shelf. Marcus and Hadassah’s love story is one for the ages and I’ve never come across a love like theirs with all the books I’ve read.

#1 Drum roll please... this year’s number one read is A voice in the wind by Francine Rivers- This book… one-word revolutionary. Francine Rivers, in my opinion broke through the boundaries for conventional Christian fiction and did such a beautiful job of crafting this story, every time I opened the book I felt as if I was there in Rome walking the street right next to Hadassah. The story telling of a Jewish girl surviving her way through Rome’s persecution of Christians. If this book didn’t not have you sobbing at the end then… there’s something wrong. Francine Rivers’ books will always leave you with a different perspective on life. I would highly recommend this book to any girl looking for answers.
